School Policy
IN-CAR LESSONS POLICY
- DriveTrend offers driving lessons 7 days a week starting from 7 am ‐ 9 pm (depending on daylight saving).
- Individual In-Car lessons – You can schedule up to 2 hours of driving lessons per day.
- Pickup and drop-off for in-car lessons will be at the same pickup location (home address, work, or school place).
- In special circumstances such as; if the student lives in a restricted area where driving instructors cannot teach in-car lessons due to city regulations. Students will meet at a location outside the restricted area to complete in-car lessons. (Discuss with the In-Car Driving Instructor).
- In the event of winter or extreme weather conditions, an in-car lesson can be cancelled at the discretion of the in-car instructor with no penalty to the student. Weather-related cancellations are made at the discretion of the instructor only.
IN-CAR LESSON CANCELLATIONS
- On‐the‐road lessons are scheduled between the student and the driving instructor. Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance to the in-car instructor, NOT the office. The instructor’s contact information will be provided to the student. A driving cancellation notice not given within 24 hours will result in a late cancellation/no-show fee as outlined below:
- Late cancellation/No show fee: $35.00/per scheduled hour. The next lesson will not be scheduled until paid for missed lessons penalty.
- Note: All fees must be paid in full to DriveTrend Driving School before in-car lessons start.
- DriveTrend reserves the right to cancel an in-vehicle lesson. Your instructor may cancel or re-schedule your on-road session due to illness, personal emergency, weather or road conditions, unexpected mechanical issues with the vehicle, or being delayed by Road Test at the Drive Test Center without any penalty to the student.
CERTIFICATION
DriveTrend reserves the right to not certify a student if the student does not complete the BDE Program within the Ministry of Transportation’s mandates.
Certification depends upon your full attendance and successful completion of all BDE Course components. To be certified, you must complete the full program within one year. This includes 30 hours of online theory training (pass the online tests) with a minimum average score of 80%), 10 hours of home-link (with a minimum score of 80%), and 10 hours of In-car training (with a minimum final score of 80%).
Driving schools have no longer provided the BDE certificate since 2008. Once you register with the Ministry of Transportation, you will need to contact the Ontario Service and obtain a Driver’s History Report for a fee of $12. This report will show that you have completed the driver education program for beginners at our school.
ROAD TEST BOOKING
Your in-car instructor can make a reservation for you after registering with the Ministry of Transportation, or you can make your reservation by visiting the website https://www.drivetrend.ca/policy or by calling (647) 819-5931.
- If an instructor takes a student to the road test center and the road test has been canceled after they arrive at the test center, full charges apply for the services rendered (in-car hours before the road test and use of car for road test charges).
- If a road test is canceled by the Drive Test center before the instructor picks up a student on the day of their road test, no charges will apply.
REFUND POLICY
You are eligible for a full refund on any of our services before the instruction is given (a $50 administration fee is applied and some conditions may apply). A written request for a refund is required with proof of payment.
A request for a refund must be submitted via email to [email protected]. The school will process a refund within 7 days of the request, refunds will be completed using the same method of payment as the original purchase.
You may be eligible for a partial refund once any instruction on the driver’s education course or any package has been received, the total amount will be deducted based on services rendered.
- A $ 50 non-refundable administration fee applies once an online or in-car lesson begins.
- $ 50 is charged per online class completed.
- $45 charge per hour of the in-car lesson completed.
All services must be completed within one year of registration. After the one-year, money is not refundable and services will be forfeited. If you have any questions, please contact us.
